About Sand Dollar Co:

Steve Gilliss

Hi, I’m Steve Gilliss — a strategic advisor with over 25 years of global experience in Enterprise IT, business development, and team leadership. I’ve spent my career helping companies scale smartly by combining technology, marketing, and people-first thinking.


With a Bachelor of Commerce and a technical diploma, I’ve led high-performing teams in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. From managing complex enterprise solutions to supporting grassroots initiatives, my approach is grounded in clarity, collaboration, and execution.


Beyond the boardroom, I’ve also built a small concert promotion company, worked with the world-renowned Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, and partnered with major tours like Dwight Yoakam, Lyle Lovett, and The Mavericks. I’ve been deeply involved in music-driven mental health initiatives, including Guitars for Vets Canada and Music 4 Mental Health, where I continue to serve veterans and first responders through the healing power of music.


At Sand Dollar Co., I offer guidance and strategic oversight to help ensure that every brand we touch is backed by smart systems, sustainable growth, and rock-solid support.

Sydney Gilliss

Hi, I’m Sydney Gilliss — the founder of Sand Dollar Co. and a passionate marketer who blends creativity, strategy, and a coastal state of mind to build brands that stand out.


I am in my final year of my Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing with an embedded certificate in Entrepreneurship from the University of Calgary, where I was proud to receive the RBC Fast Pitch Award and the Michael Lang Scholarship in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.


I’ve led marketing, branding, and content for a variety of organizations — from small businesses to nonprofit events and sports teams like the Airdrie Thunder Junior Hockey Club, where I managed social media, fundraising, promotions, and community engagement. These real-world experiences taught me how to build authentic connections and grow a loyal audience, both online and off.


I started Sand Dollar Co. to help others do the same through thoughtful content, strong branding, and marketing strategies that actually work.


When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me outside with my husky Bodhi, collecting design inspo from the natural world, or chasing sunsets.
